I’ve been entangled in a virtual game of tag.

Caught by Sarah Lopez over at God’s Not Finished With Us Yet. I’ve seen this around in the blogging world and figured that sooner or later I would get a turn. So, thanks to Sarah for allowing me to participate.

The rules are simple: list six random or weird facts about yourself, and then tag six others.

Writing six random or weird facts about me is pretty easy, since I am generally both random and weird. Trying to figure out which six, though, was quite a challenge. So here they are, in no particular order:

1. As a senior in high school, I was scouted by four colleges and one major league baseball team. My future was set. Then I blew my shoulder on the next-to-last game of the year, and never played again.

2. Though by all accounts a manly man, I will flee hysterically from a clown. Any clown. Would someone please explain to me why clowns aren’t the most horrifying things in the universe?

3. I will go to the store and by anything except toilet paper. You will never catch me with it. Ever.

4. I cannot go to bed at night without watching one episode of The Andy Griffith Show.

5. At seventeen, I saved a girl from suicide. She wanted to thank me in person, but I was too shy to meet her.

6. I once had over a thousand dollars worth of baseball cards. I sold them all to buy my wife’s engagement ring.

And in the spirit of keeping the ball rolling, I will invite…

Your second answer had me dying with laughter, only because I fear clowns too. Every since a few of my friends and I watched the movie ‘Poltergeist’ when I was about 12, I never viewed clowns the same again!

That is so funny about #3!

    Seriously? Never?

#5 really peeks my interest and would love to hear the testimony should you decide to share it one day on your blog. God must have really planned the timing just right for you to be there for her. Praise God for that!

And #6, well that’s just super sweet!

I’m glad to have learned some more things about you Billy; on the lighter side of things, that is. Thanks for playing along and letting us a little more into your world.

    Blessings,
    Jesse and Sarah

Baseball, huh??? That’s way cool. Wow, sold baseball cards for your sweet wife. That’s so romantic.

I love the game of tag, getting to know the participants. Thanks for tagging me. I was tagged in December, so I’ll use that one as my Tagged post: http://lynnrush.wordpress.com/2008/12/13/tagged/

All right, all right. I’ll give it a whirl. … I’m feeling a bit guilty, that I’m getting a good laugh at your expense. I can’t stop thinking about you running from Bozo. … Thanks for sharing. On a serious note, I was intrigued by your encounter with the girl who wanted to commit suicide. Wonder if you ever see her now, as an adult, or if you ever hear how her life is today.

  • Chris Godfredsen

I’ll get to it, Billy, working through what to share at the moment. Later tonight or first thing tomorrow – not that you’re just sitting around waiting for my answers, tho!

Your list was pretty good. Sorry about the shoulder, but glad you didn’t make it – would probably have hit the big time and not been a blogger.

Toilet Paper??? REALLY???? I can understand female feminine products….but toilet paper??? :)

  • Carol

Hey Billy, Thanks for joining on as a follower of Choose Joy. If you look at my recent post, you will dee that Sarah tagged me too and you can read my 7 weird things….yet mine are not so weird when I read about clowns and toilet paper!!!! Carol

  • L.L. Barkat

    Number 3. Hilarious.

But you’ll write about it. ;-)

    Go figure.

  • Sockrma18

I do it! My six things are on my blog! THANKS for tagging me….It was hard to decide on which ones as there are so many weird and random things about me. And I am proud of them all. :)

I love that you will not ever be caught dead with TP. They have medicines for that, ya know. :)

    HAPPY TUESDAY!!!

  • Kelly

I am scared of clowns, too!

Hats off to you for saving someone’s life.

And (in my head), I went “Awwww” when I read about the baseball cards and your wfie’s engagement ring.

    See you soon!

  • sharilyn

wooohooo! i got tagged…just letting you know that i know (and now i know that you know that i know)…i shall accept your tag and give it a shot later this week! :) loved your #2 and your #3, especially. i can just see you running hysterically out of a rodeo–”why didn’t someone TELL me there would be clowns?!?” :) (ah, i do so enjoy my imagination!)

thanks for the challenge to come up with something weird about myself… i just cannot imagine what there could possibly be! :)

  • Travis

Well, you’d better decide now not to be a professional rodeo athlete, ’cause their lives are always being saved by the rodeo clowns. But the bulls, now they don’t seem to be too excited by the clowns, they just chase them around in circles. I suppose that, in a round about way, that says you’re not full of bull? Maybe?

  • sam van eman

funny post, billy. but i’m sorry to hear about your shoulder.

re: tp, i’m so money efficient that i end up with the largest pack they have. it sits atop my cart like an iceberg.

  • sharilyn

alright, billy, i’ve finally made my list (though it doesn’t come CLOSE to the weirdness of yours!!) and passed along the fun… (1/13/09 post)

  • katdish

I did one of these too: Getcherfreakon. And while clowns didn’t make the list, I am so there with you! My friend wanted me to paint her baby nursery with clowns! I was like, “What kind of sick freak are you anyway?”

#3 – so I’m guessing feminine hygiene products are out of the question, huh?

#5 – I hope she does get in touch with you someday. You don’t strike me as shy, but I know some people are bolder in print than they are in person.

My cousin played AAA ball, but I think I may have mentioned that already.
