Come on over

May 3, 2009

Hey folks!

You remember Johnny Carson, right? Great guy. And funny. Millions of people couldn’t go to bed at night until after Carson. He was just that good.
But every once in a while Johnny would need a little break from the show. He had some things to take care of and new horizons to explore. So he’d call Jay Leno to come and do a show. Now everyone knew that Jay Leno was no Johnny Carson, but they put up with him, maybe even liked him, because they knew Johnny would be back the next day.

That’s sort of what I’m doing today. I’m Jay Leno, and katdish, over at Hey look, a chicken! is Johnny Carson.

My post is over there today, and I’d like you to come on over and see what I learned last week about God Work. Make sure you leave a comment so I’ll know you didn’t get lost along the way, and feel free to roam around katdish’s site. If you ever need a laugh, some social commentary, and a little random madness, she’s the lady to see.

And I’ll see you back here tomorrow.

Can I be Ed McMahon? Hiiiii—yo!!!

I already saw your post over there, which was great, despite the use of the phrase “pornographic cheese butler.” Tee hee.

  • God’s Not Finished With Us Yet…

Okay Billy, I’m confused. Why did you feel forced to go elsewhere? That doesn’t seem like you….Great post on what you shared though. Just a little lost.

  • Billy Coffey

Sarah – Oh no, not forced. Katdish just needed a little break so she could get a little painting done, and I was happy to step in. Unfortunately, my daughter’s fighting a cold and I didn’t have time to write a post here, so I thought I’d just link to the post there. Writing one now for tomorrow, though.

  • gzusfreek

Brilliant idea. Hope the cold heals quick!

    Billy,

Another great post and I am glad that you are looking into expanding your blog traffic. I think time will be your best indicator there as I have noticed your follower count is up from when I signed up to follow you.

I think its great because people that follow me, eventually will click on my blog list and come on over to see what I follow and discover something amazing.

You will definitely achieve all that God wants you to!

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

Cool- going to check it out right now. :)

  • Jennifer

    Great post over there Billy.

I had to laugh out loud at katdish’s comment in the previous post about the burgeoning female readership of this blog. So true. … I love it!

I, for one, would like to hear from the woman behind the man. I would love to read a guest blog, here at “What I Learned Today …” from Mrs. Billy Coffey.

    Anyone else?

Blessings to you brother. It’s good to see all the excitement over here for your stories. You’ve been a blessing to many.

I’d like to say I knew you before you were famous. ;-)

Heading over to Katdish’s right now. You do keep us on our toes trying to keep up with you! :o )

  • Chris Godfredsen

Good stuff over on the katdish blog, Billy, but seriously – you’re killing me.

As I struggled through my day – frantically trying to make a deadline – I failed miserably. I failed in being who God has created me to be, and I was two stinkin’ hours past my deadline to boot!

Not only did I miss opportunities today, but I also stunk at getting through a busy day. I know that He will extend me His grace and peace – I thank God for that every day, especially right now!

Be blessed as you continue to write your blog, other people’s blogs, your manuscripts, newspaper columns and everything else you write.

  • Joanne Sher

Great stuff, Billy – and what a smart way to increase your traffic! May have to think about something similar. Sorry about your daughter’s cold. No fun!

  • sharilyn

wooo hoo! 100 followers today!! :) wow! i remember back when i joined up, there were only a handful of followers and now, look at you! blog-world famous!! :) i’m so happy for you… and i hope God continues to do big things through your gifted writing!

and, i agree with jennifer–it would be fun to hear from mrs. billy coffey one day!! :)

…heading over to read your post…

  • Billy Coffey

Sharilyn – Pretty nice, huh? Of course, I remember when I only had one – YOU!

  • God’s Not Finished With Us Yet…

Oh, I see now Billy. Thanks for the clarification. :) If this gets your traffic increased than all the better for you! I didn’t know people could do that. How does that work? Can someone have access and possibly change things around w/o permission or are there certain limits they have? May not be a bad idea to interchange with someone you trust just so you can reach others, mainly the ‘lost’.

I am 100% in agreement with what Jennifer Lee said:

“I, for one, would like to hear from the woman behind the man. I would love to read a guest blog, here at “What I Learned Today …” from Mrs. Billy Coffey.

    Anyone else?”

YES!!! Mrs. Billy Coffey, please step up to the plate and share your wild (Uh, I mean smooth…) ride behind Mr. Billy. Oh, and also if you have your own blog site for your photography I’d love to see your work. I’m sure you were amazing!!! How did the wedding photo’s turn out? I’m sure you had no worries to be nervous over and did a great job!

    Going over …

  • katdish

    Thanks again, Billy.

I think you broke my counter (again).

You’ve got some of the nicest readers ever.

  • Peter P

Is this cross-pollenization of blog readers or is it in-breeding.

It’s so hard to tell the difference.

  • Billy Coffey

    Peter – It’s a little of both, I think.

    Katdish – I do, don’t I?

  • Peter P

The million dollar question now is: Will Billy’s readers stay ‘nice’ after they have hung out on HLAC for a while?

    Answers on a postcard please.

  • L.L. Barkat

I know, I should go there. But I’m enjoying you right here… talking about Carson and Leno… :)

  • Steph @Red Clay Diaries

    Billy.
Leno and Carson? Does this mean you’re angling to take over Katdish’s blog?

You do not want to do that.

    Trust me. She’ll cut you.

  • Kim

I did go visit. I thought your post was great(as usual), but REALLY enjoyed roaming katdish’s site. She’s a riot. I laughed out loud when I got to the bottom of her blog list and saw that she had her own special category of blogs she’s “putting in time out”, which is certainly where mine belongs. At least it wouldn’t be lonely.

  • Blessed Mom of 8

Billy – praying your daughters cold is better quick!

I will check out your post!

    Blessings – Jill

  • sharilyn

    hey now, billy…
what’s this [trash]talk over on your post at HLAC?? “And since my own blog traffic is just a couple steps above sucktacular…” in this case, i trust the “suck” refers only to the quantity of readers and the “-tacular” (as in “spec-”) refers to the QUALITY!! (as in faithful, loveable, enthusiastic, can’t-wait-to-read-every-word-you-write-and-then-tell-you-how-awesome-and-gifted-you-are kind of quality!)

i know teasing can get ‘lost in translation’ when written, so please know that i’m just joshin’ ya! (how’s that for southern speak?!)…sort of…
